Surrender, the convenience of cowardice

Surrender is NOT the liberty of an American Warfighter, it is the convenience of cowardice. Whether we inadvertently drifted into their territory or not, we can NEVER allow ourselves to entertain the acceptance of surrender, especially to an enemy who’s waged war on our people.

Had they manned their guns and refused to concede, a stalemate would have ensued until the supremacy of our QRF assets would have prevailed without a shot even being fired.

The Iranians are NOT stupid. They would not have viewed two swift boats as an ‘envision’ nor would they have hindered our rescue attempts on open water, regardless of how offended they would have been.

imageInstead we gave them two extremely sensitive vessels, both of which have classified Intel and Tech onboard. We also gave them the opportunity to glean possible secrets from members of the military, who in and of themselves hold actionable Intel vital to the State of Iran. Remember November 4th 1979? If they wanted to, they could have held them for months, all the while torturing our service members to learn exactly what we’re up to in that region, our moral, our assets and the list goes on.

Even if this would have ended in bloodshed, death is the cost of ‘Freedom’. These guys are members of the United States Navy not a poker club. Members of our military should not be encouraged to ‘fold’ even if they mistakenly  drift into enemy territory.

imageWhat’s worse, they have an acting United States Navy Captin appearing pitifully terrified while saying “sorry” to the State of Iran. Sorry for what exactly?!?!  He is an Officer of the World’s most powerful navy in history. He volunteered his commission and was assigned his post. He swor an Oath and committed to the responsibility of embodying the very best qualities of an American Warfighter and if be, die doing so. He doesn’t have the privilege of surrendering himself to ‘fear’ nor does he have the freedom to say “sorry”for the mission he was sent to complete. He gave up his privileges at MEPS.

imageHe is an ambassador of our blade. His duty, to place fear in the hearts of our enemy and cause them to pause. His duty was to resist and should he be overpowerd and detained, he was to remain ‘faithful’ to the Republic. His mission once captured was to present the American Warfighter as a hard nosed, strong willed, killer who can’t be tamed not even in chains. Instead our enemies will use his own words to show us as soft spoke pussies, who can’t wait to get back to their momies.

Their mission once captured was to follow the Code. Not for patriotism or for valor, but for one thing, to remind our enemies and our future enemies that we can not be intemidated, not even in chains. We hold that faith in battle to protect our homeland so future enemies don’t mistake  us as ‘weak’ or feeble minded. For his sake I pray the order to surrender his vessels came from Top and he didn’t order his men into cowardice, due to a lack of courage on his part.

As for his pitiful conduct after the surrender, that lays solely on his shoulders. He had the responsibility to conduct himself according to a Code which many men have died with honor adhering to its precepts. He was held for but a few hours. During which time he was allowed to stay clothed, was feed and was housed in warm decent quarters, with his fellow sailors.

imageHe was not tortured or even threatened. He did not experience duress nor were any of his subordinates. He ‘chose’ to surrender and in so doing, ‘chose’ to abide by the 6 articles which define his sworn conduct.

Name, rank and serial but above all, DON’T dishonor your fellow combatants or the Republic you serve, Sir.

That is all….
